This is a true story.
I left the house early yesterday intending to run all the way to Norman Park and then participate in the morning’s Parkrun. The distance from home to the park is roughly 10km. After running nearly 4k, I began to feel heaviness in my left shin. Not again! That was the same distance I started limping the last time! In fact, as I hinted last week, I’ve had to stop running for nearly two weeks because of the pain; and with marathon day drawing close, I could not afford further aggravation.
Determined not to quit, I walked a little bit and started running again. It felt like my legs would give way any moment. It’s at this point I switched. I began to quote a scripture over and over as I ran. This Word has been alive in my Spirit for months and now was the perfect time to draw on its essence. In spite of the growing pain, I chanted: If the Spirit of Him who raised Christ from the dead dwells in me, He who raised Christ from the dead will give LIFE to my left shin by His Spirit who dwells in me. I kept quoting and running. I kept running and quoting.
Then it happened! Something definitely happened! The pain began to subside as I continued to ignore its threat. Before long, the pain vanished! I could have stopped at 5k but I ended up clocking 15.3k! Thank you Father!
Are you in the middle of a challenge right now and you feel like quitting your race? Have you gotten to the limit of your endurance and there’s still a long way to go in your journey? It is time to SWITCH! Trust in the Lord and not yourself. Renew your strength in Him through His Word and Spirit. He will take you beyond, far beyond, the limits circumstances have set for you.
Don’t quit running! Instead, switch your source of strength. Soar with wings as eagles; run and not be weary; walk and do not faint. Surely, it’s not by power or might, but by the Spirit of Him who raised Christ from the dead!
