One of the well-known chapters in the Bible is Hebrews 11, the roll call of faith heroes. It describes, one after the other, the achievements of people who were called by God and through whom God accomplished His purpose in the earth. These people now form the “great cloud of witnesses” that urge us to “run with endurance the race that is set before us.” The race, therefore, is a race of faith and without it, we cannot please God.
Now faith is the means by which the seen world was fashioned out of that which was unseen. It is the essential ingredient that created and developed the ages. The basis of this era-defining faith is the word that proceeds from God’s mouth (Hebrews 11:3), and when God’s speaks the race of faith begins. In other words, the course is not set until God speaks.
There are many who are running today, pursuing things that God has not commanded. The pursuit of happiness and the quest for material acquisitions can easily discount the spoken word of God. However, no matter how fast we run or how much we accomplish, if we are not pursuing God’s declared counsel for our lives, we cannot receive eternal recognition. “By faith the elders obtained a good testimony;” by faith we run and do the Father’s will.
The world is still being fashioned. There are things you carry within you that are yet to be birthed. I am talking here about God-ideas and not just good ones. The birthing of these prophecies will shape this generation and generations to come. For this reason, you must run the race of faith, looking unto Jesus the initiator and finisher of your race.
Don’t stop now. Keep running!
